The majority indigenous component of the Andean region tends to be presented as an anachronism by the dominant media. In this chapter, I study how the audiovisual stereotype of the technological illiteracy of indigenous women is configured in the media. I analyze the media trope of the intercultural encounter in which the hegemony of the White man from the capital city is demonstrated based on the supposed technological  inability  of  the  Andean  woman.  I  establish  how  the  media  representation  of  indigenous women in their relationship with technological devices may reproduce or transcend an aesthetic of inequality. I propose that audiovisual production that favors an aesthetic of equity will contribute to the empowerment of contemporary indigenous women.
